Admit Weekend School of Engineering Open House

The School of Engineering’s Open House is an annual event during Stanford Admit Weekend that provides Tau Beta Pi members a venue to give back to the School of Engineering by inspiring and setting example for the school’s future citizens. Tau Beta Pi serves as the primary organizer of the event, in collaboration with the Office of the Dean for Student Affairs.

Among our responsibilities are: recruiting and coordinating representatives and volunteers for the events, coordinating with student service managers from different engineering departments to prepare handouts for prospective freshmen, communicating with Admit Weekend staff to spread the word about the event, designing the layout of the space, setting up, and cleaning up after the event.

Engineering Showcase

PACKARD ATRIUM | APRIL 17, 2017 | 4:00-6:00 PM

Get ready for Stanford’s Engineering Showcase! This event aims to be a common platform for engineers from all fields to come together and engage in conversation. We envision a place where technology companies can demo their products to students, and conversely, where student groups can demo their projects to companies and the engineering student body at large. This initiative is largely inspired by MIT’s xFair, and we want to bring a similar spirit to the West Coast at Stanford. Both engineering majors as well as undeclared students interested in exploring applications in industry are warmly invited to attend!

CEO Dinner with Matt Kraning

We’re excited to start the new year off strong with a CEO dinner on the first Wednesday of winter quarter. If you’ve been divided between pursuing further education and starting a company (our guest did both!) or are curious about the workings of the Internet, be sure to attend! We’ll be joined by Matt Kraning, co-founder and CTO at Qadium. Matt completed his BS in Physics, MS in EE, and PhD in EE – all at Stanford. He then worked at Darpa for a couple of years before starting Qadium, a company that is poised to be one of the most important of this generation. Qadium indexes all devices connected to the Internet, which is proving to be extremely valuable, especially with the rise of the Internet of Things. Should be an awesome conversation!

CEO Dinner with Noah Ready-Campbell

We are super excited to have Noah Ready-Campbell for the CEO Dinner series this week! A TBP member himself, he is the co-founder and CEO of Twice, a fashion retailing company that was acquired by Ebay last year, and is now working on his next idea. As a young founder, his perspective in building a new company is extremely valuable for all of us who are deciding between working for large companies, and starting our own adventures.
